“I’m an Emotional Idiot”

After watching this clip I actually liked this poem. It’s different from the rest of the def poetry I have heard, this is because she adds comedy into her poetry. It was not as serious as most people and it actually made me laugh. Overall, this is one of the best I have heard and I would like to hear more like it.

“Sometimes Silence Is The Loudest Kind Of Noise”

After watching this clip I did not really like it. The way the woman presented was to serious for me. I would rather hear humor than to be so serious. I do understand why she named the poem what she named it. The thing I did like was how she kind of sung some of the words in the poetry. Overall, it was good, but I would rather hear comedy.

“Nuyorican Poets CafĂ©-Jon Sands”

After watching this clip it was actually good. The profanity might be a little much, but it was still funny. It did not make much since but the way he used his voice and hand gestures, it made up for it. Overall, the guy was rambling a lot, but it was funny and he did well.

“I Need To Write”

After watching this clip it was actually good even though it did not have much comedy. I like how he was very fast paced during reciting his poem. It was a very serious poem, but the way he got into his poetry. Overall, even though it was a very serious person he done well in keeping my attention by quickly reciting the words and being emotional with his poetry.

“Shihan”

After watching this clip it was good. Again the comedy part is what caught my attention and is what I liked. In this poetry it was comedy and reciting the words quickly that made it really good. Overall, it was funny but he got his point across well.

Defining Racism

After reading this chapter on racism I thought it was very interesting. Especially since racism is such a touchy subject in our country, but I thought Tatum held her point well. Tatum was not scared to push her students or anyone to think under the shell or actually think about how some communities are split. I mostly agree with everything that was said in this chapter and I think that everyone should read it and actually think about how things are in their community. Overall, it was interesting reading and I am curious to hear everyone else’s opinion.

Reading Culture

After reading the various pages of the chapter, it blew my mind how advertising affects the world today. Some pages describe how many images that are being advertised target certain groups of people. All of this was very interesting to read, it’s weird how one image can draw so much attention to a company or anything. It also explains how some authors try to put confidence in people and to basically rally the troops. This chapter also explains how camera work is developed and managed to create fascinating things. Overall, this chapter showed me a lot in how many businesses reach out to people, and how it can be used in many ways.

Piracy

Reader Response

After reading the chapter on Piracy I was very shocked by all of the statistics and facts. I never imagined so much illegal downloading of music and all other entertainment. Learning the four different types of Piracy was also very interesting, especially how some company’s such as Microsoft, benefit from giving free software to people.
Some statistics that surprised me the most was how some companies gained so many users in a very short time. Such as Napster gaining ten million users in just nine months, or the most current and popular Kazaa which now holds more than one hundred million users.
Overall, I agree with anyone that thinks file sharing is theft. Many artists work very hard to entertain the world, and in return people steal there pieces of work. In the past I may have used many forms of Piracy, but after reading this chapter I defiantely think it is very wrong and illegal.

Dollywood

This past Sunday I attended Dollywood for the first time this year. I have been to Dollywood many times before in my life, but this possibly could have been the worst trip yet. The most terrible part was unquestionably the heat. Walking along the black pavement almost seemed unbearable, each step I had to mop sweat of my face. The next thing that troubled me was it seemed as if thousands of people were always brushing up on you or walking into you. Even though Dollywood is one of my favorite places to go during the summer, this trip went from bad to worse in a hurry.

TTU Business Media Center

While attending TTU I decided to do work study because it is on campus and a good way to make a little of money during the semester. My experiences with the BMC have been awesome and not so awesome. The awesome things about the BMC are the projects that we must do, such as Ollie the Otter promoting Booster Seat awareness. Also, I have attended many filming and interview projects, an example of this is horseback riding while filming for a company’s promotional website and DVD. Some not so great experiences is working ten hour days of doing nothing but putting letters in envelopes and sealing them. The first mail out we overcame was 3500 letters and the second was 6000. This is probably one of the worst things I have done working for anyone or any business in my entire life. Overall, my work study at the BMC has been a brilliant learning and fun experience.

Flatbread Frenzy was a really amazing review to read. Forrest went into such detail it was almost as if I was sitting there with him the whole time. Forrest made some of the most unreal names for food, seem so delicious. Overall, this was an excellent review to read, and it served as a great example of how to write a proper review. Also, I had to go eat something after I read this.

The review of the Harry Potter movie by Outhier served as a brilliant example. The characters description seemed almost flawless. Even though it seemed as if it was directed to older individuals and not to teenagers it was an excellent review.
